20 Oct Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery
Great Ocean Road & Elkington Road – BELLBRAE
Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery is best visited on an empty stomach…
My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today, I have finished two bags of M&M’s and a chocolate cake. I feel better already. – Dave Barry
The Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery in Bellbrae on Victoria’s Surf Coast is kind of a BIG deal hereabouts. One of the newest BIG deals, in fact.
I’m not convinced that Willy Wonka is actually truly dead and living in chocolate heaven. Local lore has it he is alive and well and has chosen Bellbrae as his new digs. If you’ve been wondering where you can get your hands on 2,000 square metres of chocolate just because you can, look no further.
On offer is free range of the chocolaterie’s 250 products. If you’ve visited this treasure in the Yarra Valley, buckle up. I think this is better. But, of course, I do! This is Surf Coast chocolate…
Local indigenous artist Nathan Patterson’s work adorns the walls here, and the designer packaging. Love the bush tucker range.
Be one of the estimated 700,000 day trippers in 2017 to do your lolly here. And if you don’t care to eat the stuff, you’ll find body butters, oils, soaps, cookbooks and lots more. Kids will love the ice‑creamery at the entrance. And the all-day café is just wonkers. Silly, I know, but try the hot chocolate…seriously!
Check out the chocolate-making workshops and school holiday activities, and fun things for little people. Watch the chocolatiers in action from the flip side of the glass viewing panes. These guys are the real-deal Belgian-trained variety. Chocolate the best this side of La Grande Place.
