23 Dec Peach’s Fruit Market, Torquay
PEACH’S FRUIT MARKET – Shop 2, 132 Surfcoast Hwy, TORQUAY
Great news! Peach’s is reopening September 2017…
On your left heading down the Surf Coast Highway, Torquay, towards the start of the Great Ocean Road – other side of the Surf Shop Precinct, be sure and stop off at Peach’s Fruit Market.
You can’t just eat good food. You’ve got to talk about it too. And you’ve got to talk about it to somebody who understands that kind of food. – Kurt Vonnegut
Put on the shades before crossing the threshold here. You’ll be bedazzled by the psychedelic display of Garden of Eden fruit and vegetables. Peach’s don’t take the ‘fresh’ in ‘fresh foods’ lightly. They mean serious fresh-food business. Much of the produce here is local or sourced from as close by as is humanly possible. And there’s a treat in store in the organics department.
Zeally Bay Bread and Freshwater Creek fresh cream and passionfruit sponge is something else. Lovingly home-baked cakes and slices, bliss balls and bikkies – lemon slice, yo‑yos, monte carlos, chocolate-drizzled Anzacs, and croissants.
Lots to choose from in the take-home department. Wonderful selection of vegan and vegetarian fare, delicatessen and meat supplies from Ravens Creek Farm and local Otway Ranges farms, local and imported cheese, olive oils and condiments, pastries, organic and vegan dips, and other goodies. Eggs here are terrific, too.
The contents of the take-home ice-cream freezer, and everything else in it, present a temptation almost impossible to resist. And there’s a funky range of juices, kombucha, coconut waters and teas to explore.
Spend over $100 – you are invited to help yourself to a bunch of fresh-as-a-daisy flowers.
Love the A Hidden Secret vegetarian lasagne and vegetable tarts. You’ll find Tom and Paul from A Hidden Secret at the Torquay Farmers Market every Saturdays, too. Lots of gluten-free goodies available from this lot, too. Love, love, love the beetroot burger thingies. And the salmon tart is hard to beat.
Grab some local freshly caught flathead, or fish of the day. But there’s more fresh fish on offer always. The garlic prawns are delish.
If there’s such a thing as a Best Fresh and Most Spectacular Local Produce Ever Award – Peach’s it’s all yours!
