RACV Torquay Resort

RACV TORQUAY RESORT – 1 Great Ocean Road, TORQUAY

No, this is NOT me – but, it’s sure as eggs the way I feel after dropping in on the RACV Resort One Spa in Torquay.

And NO, you do not have to be a member here…or of anything! Unlike the City and Healsville clubs, RACV Torquay Resort – barring the gym and pool facilities – welcomes one and all. In-house guests and those with private gym membership have access to the gym and pool between 6:00am and 9:00pm.

Book in for Sunday breakfast. This one’s a holiday away from home, and a fun family special and feed fest.

Also eat at Harding’s Lounge or Whites Paddock here. Number One restaurant offers a seasonal à la carte menu that’s a real taste trip. Truly a royal affair and numero uno special occasion experience, Number One.

OneSpa – Book from a selection of restorative treatments, massages and facials. The spa relaxation room overlooks the golf course, and the far-away ocean. Chill on the lounges here while contemplating your navel before and after appointment. Try the OneSpa herbal teas on offer. Lovely beauty bits and gift vouchers available at the OneSpa hub. Anyone?

Grab a selection of heavenly locally made and labelled Surf Coast candles to take home to anyone not lucky enough to be sharing this experience with you. Sadly, OneSpa is closed on Mondays.

I may regret spilling the beans on this one. I will, I just know it. I have met few who are in the know about this rare, steamy experience. OneSpa’s Turkish hamam is full of watery surprises. There’s a sunken three-seater lounge, heated swirl pool, large marble hamam room, separate steam area, and graduated temperature controlled showers. RACV keep track of bookings for hamam bathing to avoid overcrowding. Six per session looks to be the limit. Last visit price was around $48 for a generous three hours of blue lagoon loafing.

So…although not many are lucky enough to be in the know about this exotic bliss bubble, let’s keep it a secret? For a little bit, anyway. Gift vouchers available. Booking essential.

The 18-hole, par 70 Ogilvy-Clayton designed golf course bumps onto some rare and beautiful ocean and natural surrounds, spectacular bunkering and water traps. The 17th par 3 is kind of famous, and worth the effort.

The gift and card shop next to reception and check-in has it all.
