Saltair Spa – 50 Ashmore Road, TORQUAY
You can be gorgeous at thirty, charming at forty, and irresistible for the rest of your life. Coco Chanel
Saltair Spa is ranked one of the best day spas in Australia by Tripadvisor reviews, and for good reason.
Saltair is a calming 10-minute drive from the heart of Torquay – set high above the ocean, overlooking farmland and rolling hills. You may even see a rainbow or two on a cloudy day.
The skin and body care products used and recommended by Saltair are Li’Tya – derived from Indigenous Australian plants, fruits, earth ochres, desert salts and sea plants; BABOR – claimed to be Europe’s leading luxury skin care; and Saltair’s specially formulated high-end quality lotions and potions.
The massage menu offers relaxation, therapeutic, deep tissue, Saltair’s signature treatment, Kodo, and pregnancy – the best ever, I am reliably informed, as this specialty treatment is performed using a divinely comfortable fit-for-purpose pregnancy massage table.
There are luxury and performance facials aplenty, but it’s no easy choice – deep ocean renewal; skin refiner; anti-aging; collagen infusion, oxygen; rejuvenation; express intense; calm anti-inflammatory, and mini spa.
Choose from six day spa packages – Pamper Package; Bliss Package; Deep Relaxation Package; Little Retreat; Saltair Spa Wrap; and, Ocean Dreaming.
The multi-award winning therapists at Saltair will treat you like a queen – or king. The boys are welcome at Saltair, too, of course.
The Li’Tya Kodo Massage is a unique experience, and hard to beat – you won’t find the Kodo Massage anywhere else in the world, as it is 100% Indigenous-themed. The Kodo is preceded by a cleansing smoke ritual, and the follow-on is sublime Indigenous Dreamtime magic. The Ocean Dreaming Package includes a pepperberry foot mask and Munthari foot massage. Hands will be treated to a Tasmanian kelp mask and massage, just to even things up.
Li’Tya and BARBOR products are displayed in the foyer, and are available for purchase. So, too, the Earth Spa scented Tasmanian lavender and rose geranium goats milk soaps – in black or pink – beautifully presented, and gift wrapped.
Gift packs of all things heavenly are also available. Ask about the Saltair gift vouchers – Dream, Retreat, Elements, Signature, Ultimate, and Couples – available online, too.
There’s a plethora of hand-and-foot, waxing, sugaring, spray tan treatments; and rich mineral mud and clay wraps, sea salt exfoliation, aromatherapy, and hair and scalp massage.
The Mother Nurture Package consists of a nurturing full-body pregnancy massage and a decadent spa facial – the perfect treat or gift for the mother-to-be.
Saltair is a divine location for a girls’ day out, a couple’s retreat, or a solo spoil. Such a rarity to enjoy a treatment without interruption, idle chatter, and in utter solitary confinement. Who wants to be asked, “Do you have anything on for the rest of the day?” or “Have you been having a busy morning?” No one, I’m guessing. You’ll find none of that palaver here. The therapists at Saltair are polite, discreet, gentle, soft of voice, and utterly professional.
You’ll not be rushed out the door immediately after your appointment. The little resting and regrouping den is a truly beautiful place to breathe in the clean, perfumed air, sip herbal teas or mineral waters, and to take in the magnificent coastal-rural vista before returning to the real world.

The only bad about Saltair is that – sadly – you’ll have to leave…eventually.
