04 Feb The Bottle of Milk – Torquay & Lorne
The Bottle of Milk – 24 Bell Street, TORQUAY and 52 Mountjoy Parade – LORNE
We do burgers well in Lorne and Torquay…we have to!
You find how you feel your best, whether you feel better when you’re eating gluten-free or whatever it is. I feel better when I eat a burger every other night. – Gigi Hadid
Hamburgers! The cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast. – Quentin Tarantino
I always want to find the best burger in town. – Dennis Quaid
OK. We’re converts, finally. But there was a time, not so long ago, when the thought of ingesting a burger – with fries, ye gads! – was anathema to us.
A just-to-be-accommodating visit to The Bottle of Milk, on the recommendation of a trusted foodie friend – a vegetarian trusted foodie friend, to boot – turned my lifelong burger-and-fries aversion into a love-at-first-bite for life thing. Now barely a week goes by without a stop-in at The Bottle of Milk. Sometimes just for the cheer-up feel-good fries on their lonesome; but most times for the whole shebang.
We’re not too sure what these guys do to their fries. And we don’t really need to know. Bang on, no question – The Bottle of Milk fries are THE BEST FRIES on the Surf Coast – perhaps anywhere. Try them with chipolte mayo, chilli mayo, or homemade relish.
The vegetarian burgers here are hippy-trippy terrific – Lentil Lentil, Tofu, Hot Lentil, and Magic Mushroom. The shrooms in the Magic Mushroom must truly be magic, as they are ginormous, and just out-of-this-world heavenly delish. They’re served up with fried Greek haloumi inside, just to make sure you’re awake. And just when your tatebuds thought things couldn’t get any better. The Hot Lentil is served with a lemon yoghurt sauce that tames the thrill of the chilli bang.
The beef burgers are made with 100% premium quality Australian beef. Of course, they are. There are over a dozen to choose from. The Hell Yeah, Fire Engine, The Pest, Blue Cheese, and Brie come highly recommended. The What a Pickle is definitely the go for pickle-loving people.
The Bingo Bango and What Everyone Gets chicken burgers are no strangers to the rave review, too. And, yes, there are more chicken burger varieties on offer.
The Bottle of Milk breakfast burgers are just the thing after a morning surf, or the bigger-than-anticipated Surf Coast night out. The Cold Shower and BLAT will sort out just about everything. Quentin Tarantino thinks so, too.
All The Bottle of Milk burger varieties are served loved up in a freshly baked La Madre bun.
Licensed, with a top selection of local ales and vino. And boom! There’s a top-shelf cocktail line-up. Great softs and juices, too. And big scoop, and the happiest of news – one of the newest kids on the block, The Bronx Pressed Juices, stock their intergalactic elixirs here.
Eat in and stay a while. Or take away. One of the Surf Coast’s best, you-beaut burger, fries and everything moorish and magnificent muncheries.
Now MSCL & Co are no fan of the name-dropper, but, we just have to…
Last time My Surf Coast Life and crew were in for an eat-a-thon, so too was Moggs Creek’s favourite son, the Geelong Cats’ Paddy Dangerfield. If it’s good enough for our Paddy, what’s not to love about this groovy little burger bunker? Sweet nothing, that’s what.
Regrettably, we’re pretty sure you’ll have to hunt elsewhere for a really-truly bottle of milk. We’ve never thought to ask. Maybe give it a go. You just never know your luck on the Surf Coast. Anything’s possible…
Oh, and the Torquay mob home deliver.
