TORQUAY BOOKS – 14B Gilbert Street – TORQUAY
Torquay Books – fairytale and serious stuff for book-loving, book-looking, bookworms – and hobbits and unicorns…
If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales – Albert Einstein
You’ll find all the latest and new releases, adult, teen, in-between and children’s fiction – and non – in Torquay Books’ beautifully laid out new store. Torquay Books really know their stuff, and will order in anything quick smart if they don’t have what you’re looking for currently in stock.
The children’s section here is lemony-snickets worth a seriously good, long browse. Lots of activity, sticker and colouring books, and Torquay Books stock a top-shelf children’s classics selection, too. Every occasion is worthy of celebration here, from Halloween to Easter, Christmas to Anzac Day. Some great science, sport, art and just-for-fun joke and comic-style material in the mix, too.
The travel and language section is well stocked and current.
Local and guest authors make regular appearances, so keep an eye out for what’s coming up, as there’s more going on here than in the average bookshop.
I’m always drawn to the photography, surfing, Great Ocean Road and Surf Coast surrounds section. If you’re after an enduring memento of your visit, check some of these. Some sure-fire conversation starters among this coffee table collection.
Designer and arty collection of hard-to-come-by original gift cards here can be hard to part with. Superb collection of calendars, writers’ notebooks and present-giving ideas. Ever-helpful and genuinely well-informed, book-loving team. And Torquay Books very kindly gift wrap, too.
